Inspired by Karl Blossfeldt

Images of inspiration for Pricklehead Blue Silk Scarf Design

The world changes when you look at it close up and magnified, the complexity of plants and flowers are fascinating when you really examine the detail.

I bought some Karl Blossfeldt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Blossfeldt) prints from the Michael Hoppen Gallery (http://www.michaelhoppengallery.com/) some years ago and they inspire much of my approach to design and photography. I love to magnify images of seed heads, stems and stalks and find that hidden world.

The spiky burrs used in the Pricklehead Blue scarf design were found on the banks of the River Thames near Kew Gardens. They take on a whole new life when magnified and look more like giant thistles than the small seed heads that attach themselves to your clothes as you brush by.
